Credit Repair Process

Philosophy
- We deal directly with the creditors / debt collectors. We feel this is the only way to take care of any situation. Credit bureaus are only responsible for relaying what the creditors say. They do not mediate disputes.
- We believe in a transparent system in which you may receive copies of any correspondence and a detailed summary of what has been done on your behalf.
- We believe that if you hire our law firm that we represent you first.
Credit Pregrade
We begin the credit repair process by reviewing your credit report. After your credit report is evaluated you will receive in writing a credit pregrade which will detail our fees, estimated settlement amounts, time frames, and any items you can assist with on your credit repair. If you agree with our pricing (we offer payment plans), then sign and return the contract, power of attorney, and HIPA release to us. At that point we begin representation.
Process
We deal directly with the creditors / debt collectors reporting on your credit report. We do not send dispute letters to the credit bureaus. We ask the creditors / debt collectors for documentation to support their claims such as account summaries, contracts, and proof of payments. Texas residents are afforded many protections found in the Texas Finance Code. Some debt collectors will decide to give us a deletion letter removing the entry from your credit report. Some creditors / debt collectors will have the documentation that is required by law and we recommend our clients settle with them.
Settlements
After a creditor / debt collector provides proof of a debt and a reasonable accounting, we encourage our clients to settle. During the settlement process we will get the creditor to agree to a Mutual Release in writing before any money is transferred. Our release will have the creditor to agree to a settlement amount which is usually significantly lower than the current demand amount. Debts under $100.00 are harder to receive a lesser settlement amount. We then negotiate for a deletion from the credit report once the settlement money has been received. It is not always possible to get a deletion from every creditor. They would then show as “Settled” or “Paid” on the credit report. Finally they will release you from all further obligations so this debt is done for good.
Finishing Up
At the end of the credit repair process, you will receive a copy of all deletion letters, settlement letters and copies of checks used to settle with the creditors.
