Ohio Attorney General Sues Debt Collector

Posted on July 22, 2009

In another example of states attorney general filing against rogue collectiona  agencies, Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray filed a lawsuit Tuesday against a collection agency after more than 200 people filed harassment complaints. The debt collector is National Enterprise Systems located in Northeast Ohio.

For Lloyd Bokman of Gahanna, it all began in March of 2005 when he received a call from a company claiming to be a law firm. “She got really angry with me because I was asking questions, and I said is this a lawyer’s office?  This is a lawyer’s office right?  She wouldn’t answer.  I said what is the name of this lawyer’s firm and she said something really quick.  All I got was the first word, it was National,” said Bokman

The key to getting this lawsuit filed was the numerous complaints filed by Ohio citizens to the Attorney General’s office. If you have been harassed by a collection agency, it is good protocol to file a complaint with your state’s attorney general and then seek advice from a qualified attorney.
